Living at St Denis Lodge
Residents have absolute choice of what they do with their time. We have plenty of activities that are organised and these vary depending on the wishes and interests of our residents. We do not organise people to take part in any particular activity but we like to encourage and support our residents so that they feel able to join in when, and if, they wish.
For the body – we have regular exercise classes with specialist trained instructors, geared towards individual capabilities. We also have regular visits from a chiropodist, dentist, masseuse and optician, and a hairdresser takes appointments in our own salon.
For enjoyment - we organise day time site seeing and shopping trips, visits to the theatre. There are also various social gathering and coffee mornings, musical afternoons and charity fund raising events.
For an active mind – we have regular visits from a mobile library, a constant supply of newspapers and periodicals, interesting speakers to visit and plenty of games. These include crosswords, (which are sometimes embarked on in a group!), quizzes, board games such as scrabble and cards. For the artistic there are drawing, painting, knitting and sewing groups.
For spirituality - as well as visits to nearby churches, a clergyman visits once a month to take communion and speak with residents individually if they wish.
For gardeners – our gardens are especially designed to be used by our residents. Special features include paths, bird tables, sculptures and a wealth of different plants, shrubs and trees that attract wildlife. Our gardener welcomes anyone’s help whatever their level of experience.
